Here's a small sampling:

"Man is always the master, even in his weakest and most abandoned state; but in his weakness and degradation he is the foolish master who misgoverns his "household." When he begins to reflect upon his condition, and to search diligently for the Law upon which his being is established, he then becomes the wise master, directing his energies with intelligence, and fashioning his thoughts to fruitful issues. Such is the conscious master, and man can only thus become by discovering within himself the laws of thought; which discovery is totally a matter of application, self-analysis, and experience."

This book has been a constant companion of mine for over 20 years. It's very small and fits easily in your back pocket. I encourage you to add this volume to your personal library. It will feed your soul and mind for years to come.

===================
Time. Money. I love the show and can watch it over and over again. Here's a scene I really enjoy....

Rooster Cogburn: [cocks his gun] Mr. Rat... I have a writ here says you're to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now it's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of the same. See? Doesn't pay any attention to me.
[shoots the rat]
Chen Lee: [runs into the room] Outside is place for shooting!
Rooster Cogburn: I'm serving some papers.

I reluctantly watched the remake with Jeff Bridges as a much darker Rooster. Without going into a long explanation, I just did not enjoy the new version as well. I will probably never watch it again, so that's saying something. Whereas I try to watch the original a couple times a year. Bridges is a good actor, he's just not John Wayne. The boots were too big to fill. Long live the American Hero.Curtis Staggshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03818332389126792378noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1468409388885526270.post-44577622271088886272011-07-20T22:51:00.002-05:002011-07-20T23:12:42.203-05:00The Eagle has landedOn this day, July 20th, in 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended towards the moon in a landing vehicle called the "Eagle." After a computer malfunction caused them to miss their mark by 4 miles and running low on fuel, Armstrong heroically took control and landed the vehicle manually in an unknown environment amidst ridges, craters, and jagged boulders. He uttered the often repeated phrase, "The Eagle has landed." Together, they planted a U.S flag and left behind a plaque which read....

"Here Men From the Planet Earth
First Set Foot Upon the Moon
July 1969, A.D.
We Came in Peace for All Mankind"

I am so very proud to be an American

GOD Bless America

source: The American Patriot's Almanac by William J. It only makes sense with an out of control federal government and politicians that spend and regulate like there is no tomorrow. Our founders expected that we would exercise some common sense.

Where is our common sense?

I think most Americans can agree that Washington has thrown common sense out the window. So...we must act.

The first best thing we could do for this country is limit their power. I think all Americans would vote to limit the terms of Senators and Congressmen.

No more career politicians.

This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, it's an American issue. We must restrain their power or they will continue to run over the people of this country and trample our liberties.

Take action now.

Ask your Senators and Congress members if they support term limits. If not, vote them out. No mercy.

This is a litmus test issue. If they don't get it, get rid of them. They do not believe in liberty if they are unwilling to restrain the power of the federal government.

It's them or us.Curtis Staggshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03818332389126792378noreply@blogger.com0
